Material & Craft
What materials do you work with?
Olee Maatee operates an artist and design led ceramic production studio. However, our practice remains materially open, expanding through collaborations with specialised craftsmen when a concept calls for it.
Are all your pieces handmade?
Yes. Each work is shaped by hand, allowing for subtle shifts in form, surface, and tone. These variations are intrinsic to the work and not imperfections.
Will my piece look exactly like the one shown online?
No two works are identical. While the formal language remains consistent, each piece carries its own nuances, shaped by process, material behaviour, and firing. Colours often look different on digital screens.
Are your works one-of-a-kind or part of a series?
Our artworks may exist as singular pieces or as part of a limited series. This is specified for each work.
Do you provide certificates of authenticity?
Yes. All our one-of-a-kind artworks are accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity, detailing the work, material, and year of creation.
Commissions & Customisations
Do you create site-specific artworks and installations?
Yes. Our installations are conceived in response to space, its proportions, light, material context, and intent. Each work evolves through dialogue and is realised as a singular outcome. Please refer this link for one such case study.
Can your standard artworks be customised in size or finish?
We can extend or adapt a body of work in scale, surface, or configuration, while maintaining the integrity of our artistic language.
How long does it take to create a commissioned artwork?
Timelines are project-specific and depend on scale, complexity, and production processes. A clear schedule is defined at the outset.
Can I preview how an artwork will look in my space?
We can assist with scale references, mood boards and placement guidance to help you make an informed decision.
Do you offer holds or reservations on artworks?
We can place a temporary hold on select works for a limited period. Please reach out to discuss availability.
